You'll be hard pushed to find a more relaxing Chalet-hotel than the Tannenburg. Traditionally decorated with original 'Belle Epoque' features, it's positioned five minutes from the town's main gondolas and chairlifts and provides Ski Miquel guests with comfortable rooms and a laid back atmosphere. After an invigorating day's ski guiding, it's the ideal environment in which to wind down.
Our bedrooms are large with ensuite bathrooms, comfy beds and soft down duvets. Many have views of the Gastein valley and each room has plenty of hanging space.
Downstairs is a comfortable private lounge area complete with wood stove and views of the snow capped mountains. By luck (!) the lounge is located next to our traditional Austrian 'Stubl' bar (open to the public until 11pm), famous for the local frothy lager, its cosy 'hygge' atmosphere and "Nails" - a local game where steel nails are banged into an upturned log with the thin end of a hammer. After a few pints it can get a little tricky.
The food at the Tannenburg is very good too. A buffet breakfast of eggs, cereals, local breads and freshly brewed coffee should be enough to prepare you for the days skiing; tea and homemade cakes at four o'clock puts an end to the mountain munchies. Canapes in the bar before dinner are the ideal time to compare the day's adventures with your fellow guests, followed by a three course meal with cheese and complimentary wine.
